San Diego skateboarding icons Tony Hawk and Willy Santos will speak at Sports@Lunch on October 14th. Lunch will start at 11:30 and the program will last from approximately noon to 1PM.

San Diego's own Tony Hawk became a professional skateboarder at the age of 14 and went on to become the greatest skater in history. In addition to being a multiple winner of the National Skateboard Association Championship, Hawk is credited with inventing more than 80 tricks including the “900,” which he first performed at the 1999 ESPN X-Games.

A Mira Mesa native (born in Subic Bay, Philippines), Willy Santos has been skating for 20 years and currently owns Willys Workshop. Santos works with various charities and uses his spare time to assist others via skateboarding. Willy has been a professional skateboarder since he was 15 years old and has been riding for Birdhouse since 1992 (Tony Hawk's skateboard company). Willy has started a campaign to build a skatepark for the youth of Mira Mesa.

Seriously if anyone deserves everything skateboarding has fruition in terms of money and popularity, Ronnie Creager would be a leading candidate. Everyone knows how amazing of a skater he is but always seems to fall under the radar when discussions of great skaters come into conversation. In a day and age where image is getting individuals farther than they should of gone, Ronnie seems to be the last of a breed of real skaters not trying to fit in, but do there own thing. If you watch any of his parts, they are always quite ground breaking. In particular my favorite part from him is his trilogy part, so amazing. In my opinion he has one of the top three best styles in skating. I really can't wait until his new Blind part. As Ronnie would say, "Happy Skateboarding"!!!!

Everything has been quite quiet as of late in the skate news department. I figured that it was rather fitting to add something personal to the blog. I am a big fan of music. There isn't a genre where I can't find something I enjoy. Anyways, one of my favorite groups is, "THe Cool Kids". They a very distinct sound that is reminiscent of the early era of hip hop, before the golden era of Tribe and De La. They recently came out with a mixtape entitled, gone fishing. I haven't heard it yet but I'm downloading this as we speak. I'm sure it will be dope. So after I post this I will be taking a listen just like you. Enjoy! Download here
